Project Details

Okçular Dervish Lodge is believed to have been built by Bayezid II in the late 15th or early 16th century. Despite the fact that it is mentioned that the masjid of this -in a sense- sports facility built during the reign of Sultan Bayezid II had a minaret built in 1518, Matrakçı's drawing does not show such a minaret.

Okçular Dervish Lodge, Kasr-ı Hümayün, or Sheikh's Chamber is a group of buildings consisting of a masjid, kitchen, and warehouse. According to the sources, it is stated that all the buildings except the Hünkar Pavilion were single storey. In 1771, a minaret was added to the building by Ebubekir Aga. In 1819, the building group, which underwent a major repair by the order of Mahmut II, disappeared for various reasons, and only the mausoleum and minaret survived before the restoration.

Within the scope of the restoration works of the buildings, the reconstruction of the Okçular Dervish Lodge was realized by using modern construction and restoration techniques together. The Dervish Lodge consists of five main sections: the hünkar pavilion, conference hall, museum, library, and masjid. The archery training area was also reorganized and an area where archery training was given was created. Today, it continues to function as the Archery Foundation.
