Command Buildings of North Naval Area
Project Details
The first building with a clock tower (Block D) was built in 1838 by the architect Adam Tahtaciyan as the Naval School to serve the Ottoman navy during the reign of Mahmut II. In 1852, the Naval School continued to function as Kasımpaşa Naval Hospital with the additional buildings added to the main building. In 1908, B and H blocks were built in addition to the main building.
Since 2016, the building has served under the name of Health Sciences University Okmeydanı Training and Research Hospital Kasımpaşa Building by the Ministry of Health. In 2021, it was taken over by the Ministry of National Defense to be used as the North Sea Field Command Headquarters.
Within the scope of the Restoration Implementation Work, the unqualified and risky structures in the back courtyard were demolished In addition, Block C, located between Blocks B and D, was also demolished. The registered D and H Blocks are being renovated in line with the new function.
